Handcrafted cold-smoked tea over maple wood. Smooth and lightly sweet with delicate smoky notes in the finish. Best enjoyed by the fire.

I am very excited to share the results in this limited edition! Fireweed tea cold-smoked over maple wood! It’s something we’ve never attempted before, and we’re pretty sure nobody else has either. The result is smooth and slightly sweet with a quiet, earthy smokiness in the finish. Like standing at the edge of a sugar shack, maple smoke curling into the cool air.

Think of it as our Canadian answer to Russian Caravan or Lapsang Souchong, a style of heavily smoked tea that has been enjoyed in China and Russia for centuries. Instead of heavy smoke, ours is subtle and balanced, letting the tea’s natural character shine through.

We brought our fireweed to Charles Bédard, who runs La Boucabane, a small artisan smokehouse built inside his family’s century-old sugar shack in the heart of the Appalachians. The Bedard family has been working this maple grove since 1947, and Charles uses wood from the land around him to smoke local meats, fish, and now (drumroll)… fireweed tea!
